Increasing the volume and effectiveness of your electronic snow goose call
The legalization of the electronic goose call has not only increased the
snow goose harvest each spring, it
has made these birds even harder to kill. You can increase
the effectiveness of your electronic call
by playing the most realistic snow goose call recordings on the
market like the "Snow Talker" and by adjusting the volume of
your electronic snow goose call while the snow geese are working your
snow goose decoys
When the snow geese are at a distance (1 mile plus), increase your e-caller
volume to the point it starts to distort. This is your maximum
volume you should be using while hunting. There is no reason to
be blasting out distorted sounds just to sound louder. When the
birds start to get closer, decrease the volume of your electronic
goose call. This will allow the geese to check out your decoys
and not have some unrealistically loud sounds coming from the ground.
Extreme volume at close range is a dead give away that the birds below
are snow goose decoys and not live snow geese.
If the birds do not get close enough on the first pass (95% of the time this
is the case), let the birds get out 100 yards or so, hit the snow
geese with the snow goose flag, and also increase the volume on your
electronic snow goose call until the geese turn. This is exactly
like calling ducks. Increase the volume of your duck call when
they are out on the corners and going away, and decrease it as they
are incoming or checking out your decoys from above.
I am often asked how do I get more volume out of my electronic snow goose
call so geese can hear my electronic snow goose call at a farther
distance. I answer with these four tips:
1) Play the clearest recordings on the market so your recordings are not the
distortion factor. The clearest and most effective are
the "Snow Talker"
electronic snow goose call recordings
2) Buy speakers capable of making clear and crisp sounds. We have been
using these snow
goose call speakers for years with great success!
3) Add an amplifier to your CD or Tape Deck.
4) Play a CD or Tape deck with a high output.
By following the tips above you will increase the amount of
snow geese that check out your spread because your electronic
snow goose call is louder and you can attract them from farther away.
