Duck hunting can be fantastic when those final few fronts move in during the late season. But to enjoy this weather not only do you need to dress warm but you need to have set your decoys correctly, calling right, and shooting fast.
By using the tips in the video below on setting your decoys, duck calling, and shooting quick you will enjoy more success on your next late season duck hunt.
How to set your decoys on windy days:
Set them much closer to the blind. As soon as you pop up the birds will begin to flare. If your duck decoys are set to far out the birds will be out of range before you can empty your gun.
Duck calling on cold and windy days:
Play the loudest call that you have and make sure you call at them when they are downwind as they will be able to hear you best. If they are upwind you can often get away with calling at them closer than usual as the wind will muffle your calling and location.
Duck shooting tip for windy days:
As soon as those birds see or hear you they will be leaving fast. Be quick on the shot!
Making you a better caller!
